September 25, 2007

My sincierest apologies at the lack of updates!

What can I say … None of the Authors that write for me can be bothered and i’ve been lacking in Gaming related banter to share. So instead of some article or jabs at my latest foe, i’ll just post an update as to what i’ve been up to.

In no Particular order:

Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy – I relentlessly played it for two (and a bit) days straight clocking 26 Hours before hitting 100%. Still haven’t managed 100% Gamerscore yet … just have to complete a few “Undefeated” achievements. I only really played it again for the Gamerscore, I have completed it on the PS2 before. Kids games are fun for a while … It has no longeivity for me. Once its done, its done. 7.5/10

Crackdown – I played this during one of my Lego SW intermissions (both borrowed from Dachande btw, kudos) and completed the first two islands and most of the third. If it wasn’t for the ridiculous amount of collectibles (1,000+ scattered and hidden) and the fact it has some online co-op potential, this game would be in the bin after a day of intensive playing. Why did people score it so highly? Anyway, its fun … Really fucking silly, but still fun. 7.8/10

Stranglehold Demo – I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it. The next person to say “Its the next Max Payne” to my face is going to get their ass kicked. The Graphics are Horrible, Guns feel bland, the enemies stupid, the story absurd, the blatant John Woo Sellout’ness makes me want to cut myself and TEQUILA TIME? WHAT THE HELL? Still, I only played the demo, so the score it arbitrary anyway. 0.5/10

Final Fantasy XII – I only played about 5 hours of it …. Seems fun enough. I have skipped -every- cut scene thus far because I know I won’t be able to tolerate the plot. I’ll just read a booster somewhere once I’ve filled my party slots. I will not be taking that dickwad main character though. Jesus, I thought Tidus was bad. 6/10 (so far)

Bioshock – I got 900~ Gamerscore in the first 24 Hours of playing it. I love it. Its a great game … I’ve played it start to finish twice, and start to mid-way twice more … Seen both endings twice, seen Ryan kill himself (by Proxy) twice and been betrayed by Fontlas twice. And I still love it just as much. But god help me … if I play it again i’m going to spoil it for myself. I’ll get the last two achievements in a month or so. 9.5/10

Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars – Well i’m resolved to only playing the Game on hard, getting all the medals as I go. Generally been quite easy so far … Just stuck on Alexandria now. Its a fun game, it handles well but the graphics are definitely sub-par. Its fun seeing all my favourite TV (BSG, Lost, etc) show actors in the cut scenes though :P Rather than making Game Movies, I think we should do more Life-action cutscenes (yes, I know i’ve said Cutscenes are last gen … But for that i’d adapt).

No? Ok. Having spoken to my friend James, who is new to 360 and doesn’t own a PC. He’d give it a higher score just because he never gets to play strategy :P The last ones released on the Playstation Consoles were Red Alert 1 and Civ 3. 8/10

Movies

I’ve seen a few in the last month or so, so here you go:

Bourne Ultimatum – The action was relentless … The guy really was on the run 24/7, no time for Secks in this movie. Sadly, the plot was a bit predictable. They did a clever half-crossover with the second movie … You’ll probably need to rewatch the second to spot this though. This series of Movies stands as both the best Spy Series, and Matt Damon’s best work. 9/10

Hallam Foe – I don’t know what made me see this movie … But i’m … Kinda … Glad I did. I don’t really know what to say. A Guy banging a woman he’s infatuated with because she looks like his dead mother … in the opening scene he leaps from a tree house with a badger on his head and lipstick around his nipples. The acting was superb though. And Julius Caesar (from ROME) was in it … And he was called Julius, brilliance. Anyway … this isn’t the next Donnie Darko, but pop your head in if you fancy a change of pace. Look out for “I killed a man. Just so you know.” You’ll laugh hard, I gurantee it. 7.6/10

Wolf Creek – WARNING: This Movie comes with an “Impatient Dickhole” Filter. This is the slowest starting movie in the history of movies. There is literally nearly an hour of the worst garbage acting ever! But, stick with it. Because once this movie gets going, it really gets going. This is a must see for any horror fans out there. Not genre shattering … but unique. 7.9/10

<End of Content>

Well thats all you’re getting for now, I promise to try and stick my head back in soon (This week) to either talk about Halo 3, which is coming soon, or to talk about Why exactly i’m not playing WoW, but still paying the sub fees.

Remember to check out Nobody Reads This, I update that far more regularly … Its often about nothing mind. But still, it gets updated.

Now, if only I could get Dachande or Mark to write something >_>

Regards,
James.
